The
Lee County Labor Day Family Festival and Redneck Games are designed to
be an old fashioned day of family fun, food and games with a bit of good
natured foolishness thrown in for kicks. Sponsored by the North Ft.
Myers Chamber of Commerce and includes free activities for all ages and
includes all the standards; bounce house, kids “obstacle” course, the
Strolling Balloon Guy. For the kids, we’ll also have some tire races,
peanut spittin’ (for accuracy and distance), bean bag toss into tires,
various relay races and the roll-the-watermelon race. The Redneck Games
will feature a whole lot of good natured foolishness including
“Bottomless” mud pit Tug O’ War as businesses and organizations fight
for braggin’ rights as each team with up to six members, attempts to
pull the other across the bottomless pit of mud. Our signature event,
the Six-tathlon, features grueling head to head competition, testing the
physical prowess and emotional stamina of our daring participants. Tire
roll and stack, remote control toss, Spam sandwich eating, hangin’ the
dirty laundry; it doesn’t get any better than this! Additional
competitions will include the Best Mullet Contest (hair not fish),
Largest Tattoo Contest, Biggest Hair Contest and the always popular (but
none the less disturbing) Scariest Hairiest Back Contest. Entertainment
includes the Skeeterland Band and the Calendar Girls dancing and
entertaining their way into your heart with “A SPAMtastic Salute to
SPAM’s 75th Anniversary!” Other ongoing activities include backyard
bowling with tires and trashcans, the four wheel drive swimming pool,
pig’s ear toss, the fake DNA medical testing lab and toilet seat
horseshoes. Other activities include a car and hot-rod show, an arts and
crafts fair and raffles. |
